10 TV Shows You Like The Most

I'm gonna play fast and loose with the rules on this one since, if you've been following my LJ knowing what my favorite shows are would be pretty easy! So, in no particular order, here are some shows I love that ya'll might not know I love since I don't talk about them very much!

Well, this is my first year doing this and, since I'm lazy, I didn't make a list of all the fic I wrote for 2009. But, I wrote 32 stories this year! Which is, wow, 24 more than I wrote for 2008! Ha, being unemployed was actually good for something!

Conclusion? - Um.. yay! I wrote more fic in 2009 than 2008!! Which was weird because I believe I was actually *less* fannish in '09 than '08. I was surprised at the lack of Guiding Light fic I wrote because, like many people, Otalia ate a huge portion of my fannish life in '09. I also learned to be more patient with my WiP's and not post before I've finished writing them... judging by the HUGE stack of WiP's on my hard drive. I thought there'd be more Merlin but, with the disappointment that was season 2, it doesn't surprise me that my fannish interests have waned.

As for new fandoms, while Fall Season '09 seemed more a bust than a boom, it did bring me Glee. Which feels like the show I've been waiting for only ALL OF MY LIFE!! There's Legend of the Seeker. Although that's a show I have a hard time writing for mainly due to my unfamiliarity with the source text. And then, of course, there's Bitch Slap: The Movie!, which I will finally get to see on the big screen in like.. HOLY CRAP! A WEEK!!

I'm bored. I've got writer's block. Which can only mean one thing - IT'S DRABBLE MEME TIME!!

1. Zombies!

Hrmm, what to say that I already haven't? I love horror movies. I think my love for all things zombie ties into #5, it's the survivalist aspect of it. That the neighbor who loaned you a cup of sugar yesterday could be trying to gnaw your arm off tomorrow. There's something extra creepy about a monster that is 'us' but with all its humanity stripped away. I also love the ubiquitous nature of them as monsters. Like, with serial killers/monsters there's usually just one of them, with zombies those mother f*ckers are *everywhere*!

2. Dina Meyer

Don't forget to mark your calendars, ya'll. 'Cuz Dina will be on this Thursday's episode of Burn Notice. Sure, she's playing Michael's ex instead of Fiona's but there's no problem fan fiction can't fix!! *sigh* If only there were the possibility that she'd be onscreen with Tricia Helfer!

Ahem, anyway, what's with my obsession fascination with Dina Meyer? I'm shallow and totally think she's hot. She's doesn't belong to the 'point and pose' school of action heroines. I like that, when playing the role of asskicker, Meyer *looks* like someone who can kick some ass. She's smart, funny, athletic, has no problem playing gay! She's Yancy Butler without the personal demons. Jill Wagner without the extensive resume!

3. Football (soccer)

So? Who wants to go with me to South Africa in 2010? Heh. One of the things I like about soccer is it's a sport that hasn't been marred by tv. There are no time-outs (tv or otherwise), where the action comes to a grinding halt so broadcasters can shove in some more commercials. Something that, imo, has ruined American football. 3 hours for a game that (in total minutes) runs an hour? And, dear God, don't get me started on Baseball!

4. Femslash Inquirer/Sappho

One day, I'd like to do a complete mock issue as opposed to just covers. Which is strange to say since, at the moment, I totally have the time to do such a thing. I try to do 'serious' graphics and they always feel.. lacking. So, I stick to the more humorous/tongue-in-cheek side of things.

5. Post Apocalypse femslash

Ha! We both know this was less of a question and more of a prod :P Part of the appeal is it strips the characters of their creature comforts, examines us at our best and our worst. As far as fic, I love apocalyptothon but, like all pan-fandom/pairings ficathon, finding femslash is like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack (the use of tags would help, great googly-moogly, could that comm use some tags).

I also like, in some ways and forms, how the genre 'evens the playing field' so to speak. To use BBC's Survivors as an example - how the housewife/mom can become a leader, a killer into a hero, a politician into a cultist. How people shape their new world and what baggage they choose to take with them.

I think the closet thing I've written recently (or posted publicly) would be my 'Tainted' fic. Which was more about the role-reversal of vampire/human, but it takes in a post-apocalypse type setting.

Because the weekend's coming up, I have to work and I know I'm going to be bored out of my skull looking for something to do, I thought I'd try something new. Plus, I need some inspiration for my Epic Proportions fic, which I still haven't started, 'cuz the last thing I want is an angry ralst showing up on my doorstep!!

Is there a story you've wanted to read but never had the time, didn't know the author or were unfamiliar with the fandom? Well, here's your chance. Give me a fic and *I'll* read it and review it on my LJ - any fandom, any story (and no you can't suggest your own fic 'cuz that would be cheating). First five responders/fics get read and the reviews will be posted on Monday. And, yes, I'll actually *do* this, unlike the bajillion other things I keep bringing up and forgetting to post about.

1.) The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it:
The X-Files. It was my first fandom. It was fresh and new and exciting. It started out beautifully, then went to complete and utter shit. And I kept going back for more hoping to rekindle the fire only to have a giant bucket of grimy, sewer water dumped on my head. The breakup was soo bad, it's been five years since the show ended and I have yet to watch a single episode since. And I own five seasons on DVD.

2.) The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets:
Xena. It's the one I cheated on the X-Files with and quickly stole my heart. There was a rocky patch near the end but like the saying goes - absence makes the heart grow fonder, we've rekindled the love and now I miss that show, and the fandom, like crazy.

3.) The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized she really was fucking crazy:
*sigh* Gotta go with the majority on this one - SVU. *forced whisper* I thought you were 'the one'!! Second would be Stargate SG-1.

4.) The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved she doesn't actually live in town:
Lost. Besides, Lost is kind of a slut and all those other girlfriends are batshit insane.

5.) The steady:
Power Rangers. Shut up, I like this show! And after fifteen years, I'm not breaking up with it.. again. Sure there was the godawful 'all about Tommy' phase, or 'In Space' and it's best just not to mention 'Wild Force' at any and all times. But, like a fine wine, it's gotten better with age. Or, at least it changes enough to retain some sorta newness.

6.) The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with:
Bones. One of the great things about Bones is it's like the fallback relationship, you know it's always going to be there leaving you free to flirt with other shows. Bones will never 'take my breath away' but it'll never rip my heart out of my chest either.

7.) The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't:
Stargate Atlantis. The one I keep flirting with even though I know it's just not good enough for me but keep hanging around hoping it'll get a clue and get better.

8.) The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool chick except it's never really gone anywhere:
Damages.

9.) The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?":
Supernatural. Cool babes, yes, but like Lost a whole helluva lotta batshit insane ones.

10.) The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly:
Big Love. I just.. can't. I don't know what it is but no matter how good I hear it is, I know it's not the show for me.
