10 TV Shows You Like The Most

I'm gonna play fast and loose with the rules on this one since, if you've been following my LJ knowing what my favorite shows are would be pretty easy! So, in no particular order, here are some shows I love that ya'll might not know I love since I don't talk about them very much!

1. Smallville - Yep, that's right, Smallville and I stuck it out to the very end. Was it the best written, best acted show? Aw, hell no! Did it have moments that made me wanna smash my face through the tv? Aw, HELLS yes! Imo, the episodes they got right could barely fill a thirteen episode season and, if I had the time, I'd rant about the sexist manner in which Kara was dumped from the canvas. And yet, when they got it right, they *really* got it right. Sadly, for the most part, they didn't necessarily get it wrong as much as muddled their way through, leaning heavily on 80 years worth of comics canon instead of paving their own way. But, in the end, I kept watching and when Clark strode across that rooftop, pulling open his shirt and there was a blue suit underneath with a red S, someone in casa de la trancer may have gotten a little misty-eyed.

2. Pretty Little Liars - If I could get femslash fandom to have a Glee-esque reaction to just *one* show... it would totally be Lost Girl. Hello, canon bisexual heroine and her canon lesbian love interest! But, if I could get fandom to have a Glee-esque reaction to *two* shows, the second would be PLL! This show has it all - blackmail, murder, mystery, incest, menacing milk drinkers, outrageous fashion (what will Aria wear next), a canon lesbian with a mentally unhinged potential girlfriend, creepy flute playing, blind girls getting slapped and.. the world's most boring forbidden romance. C'mon fandom, what do I have to do to get ya'll to watch this show!?! Honestly, what sets this above my other current fav teen shows, Glee and The Vampire Diaries, is the show's foundation is set on the friendship between its four female leads.

3. Packed to the Rafters - My love for Jessica Marais (Denna; Legend of the Seeker) hooked me onto this family dramedy from Australia. I mean, not much happens on the show. It's pretty light-hearted but, GODDAMN, did I not download a season in a day then watch it over a weekend. There's not much femslash potential, even though I'm a secret Rachel/Sammi shipper.

4. Lost Girl - Honestly, this show had be at 'bisexual succubus'. Sure, it suffers a bit from its low budget and a bad case of 'first season-itis' which included a whiplash inducing tone shift. But, none of that matters because a) there's going to be a second season and b) a second season means not only more of bisexual succubus Bo but also more of HOT GAY DOCTOR LAUREN.. who is gay.. and hot.. and a doctor!!

5. Roswell - Roswell, for me, was *that* show. Was it good? Dear God, no, not by any stretch of the imagination.. but there was something horribly addicting to it. Or, should I say, I was horribly addicted to it. I mean, there was a point in the first season where there was this potential for it to get better and be awesome. And the point somewhere in season two where the realization came that it would neither get better nor be awesome. Of course, by this time, the behind the scenes shenanagins and the wankery going in Roswell fandom were way more entertaining than the show. Seriously, some fans tried to get Emilie DeRavin DEPORTED because she threatened the Liz/Max ship! Remember the 'Save the Show' campaign where people were sending bottles of hot sauce to the WB and they were like 'please stop, these damn bottles keep breaking and the place smells like habenero. Oh, and the crazy ship names - Candystripers, Stargazers, M&M's, Dreamers, Lamptrimmers.. Good times, ya'll. Good times.

6. The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - *sigh* I admit to having a somewhat unhealthy obsession fascination with this show. I mean, it's not like the plot changes that much or is particularly sophisticated (especially compared to the Japanese version) but it's like comfort food or crack food and I've been watching since the beginning and won't stop now. Or sure, there were those couple years, somewhere between 'In Space' and 'Wild Force' where we drifted apart but I came back when the series was 'let's not call it rebooted' with Ninja Strom (my all time favorite). Now back in the hands of Saban after buying it back from Disney, the latest series, Power Rangers Samurai, isn't the best but it certainly isn't the worst, Jungle Fury!

7. Archer - Hands down, funniest show on American television. Is it a cartoon? Yes. Is it on FX of all places? Yes. But it does what way too many sitcoms fail to do - make me laugh out loud *multiple* times in its 22 minutes. "It's like.. Meow-schwitz in there."

8. Todd and the Book of Pure Evil - It's unfortunate this show is only a half hour long since I'm pretty sure had it been an hour SyFy would have picked it up to broadcast in the states. It's like Reaper where, you know, the potheads actually smoke pot, the slacker lead who's actually obsessed with sex.

9. Kung Faux - Take a bunch classic kung-fu movies, cut them down to 22 minutes then overdub the voices with rappers equals COMEDY GOLD!! Sadly, only one season was produced and the DVD's are quickly falling into the rare/hard to find category. But, luckily, there are torrents.. and YouTube.

10. Legend of the Seeker - A year later and the cancellation of this show still gets me right there *shakes fist*Damn you, Tribune!*shakes fist*. I guess it can be said the cancellation of LotS was the final nail in the coffin for original scripted series for syndicated television. I'm putting this on my list because it's the one show I've felt truly fannish about for, what seems, an eternity. There have been shows I've loved, ie, Birds of Prey, Women's Murder Club, Blade: the Series, where they died a short death and I never reached that *obsessive* stage. I also loved the fandom for this show, which seemed to kind of skip over the wankery that seems so rampant in overall fandom these days. I mean, a fandom WITHOUT a ship war. WTF!?! Of course, that was probably helped by the fact that the show was very OTP in regards to Richard/Kahlan and never even *thought* about introducing secondary love interests for either character. Heh, remember the anxiety in fandom between season one and two over the addition of Cara to the cast? It's also one of the few fandoms in which I can look at a ship and go 'yeah, I'd probably ship it'.

The 'to be continued' list:

09 Characters You Love
08 Couples You Ship
07 Best Episodes
06 Worst Villains
05 Best Actors/Actresses
04 .gifs Of Your Favorite Show
03 Screencaps You Like
02 Songs Played That You Can't Get Tired Of
01 Quote That Changed Your Life

Although, I'm probably going to wind up skipping 2-4 since a) I'm lazy and don't feel like scouring the internet for .gifs and/or caps and b) I have a shitty memory when it comes to songs let alone what episode or show it played on!
